Andy Schoenborn is a high school English teacher and award-winning author at Clare Public Schools in Michigan. He focuses his work on facilitating promising writing practices, encouraging teacher-writers, and professional development. As an advocate for teaching, he welcomes pre-service students into his classroom where they can learn and grow in collaboration. Schoenborn is a past-president of the Michigan Council of Teachers of English, Vice President for the Michigan Reading Association, teacher consultant for CMU’s Chippewa River Writing Project, an affiliate of the National Writing Project, and he frequently conducts professional development workshops related to writing and pedagogy. Schoenborn is a contributing author of Using Technology to Enhance Writing (Solution Tree, 2014), Continuing the Journey 2 (NCTE, 2018) and co-author of Creating Confident Writers for High School, College, and Life (W. W. Norton, 2020). In November 2019, Schoenborn will be honored with the 2019 Linda Rief Voices from the Middle Award for outstanding publication for his article, “Reclaiming the Arts in English Language Arts.” He is available for hands-on seminars, workshops, and presentations and can be followed on Twitter @aschoenborn.
