Everyday Advocacy, a National Writing Project advanced workshop, empowers literacy professionals with a framework designed to take initiatives from ideas to implementation. NWP Teacher Consultants from WMU’s Third Coast Writing Project and CMU’s Chippewa River Writing Project share how their collaboration with EMU’s Cathy Fleischer and the NWP’s Everyday Advocacy program developed a more thoughtful and strategic approach to effecting positive literacy initiatives from ideas to implementation. The advocacy process for literacy initiatives (e.g. plans to improve a high school’s reading culture, engaging community members in developing student writing identities) will be shared.
