"Books are a safe place to explore scary ideas."

As rural educators, we often experience students who have limited exposure to diverse authors, texts and topics in our classroom. This workshop will provide accessible texts to help our students navigate some of these real world topics through choice reading, workshop model, and student engagement in the secondary English classroom.

Join us to learn more about how to incorporate Choice Reading into your classroom, how to engage your students, and excite them about literature, and how to empower your students to make significant change in your school community through the power of literacy.  You'll walk out with strategies you can put into practice immediately, and an opportunity to share and celebrate the powerful work you're already doing!
